Hi, yesterday I replaced my old battery, that had around 600 cycles for a new replacement one. Everything went smoothly, however every time on boot I have the error message 607 - low temperature. I have tested the battery via ufei hp test software and by unistalling windows battery driver. Nothing has worked so far. From hp ufei test I got that the battery status is unknown (5) and temperature (5). In windows hp app says that I need to recalibrate battery, even though the ufei tester doesn't show the option, that it requires recalibration. The battery is new, only 3 cycles so it can't be a issue with that. I also updated bios to the latest version (f38). What else I can try to do?

Hi  @ptaku007

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I understand that seeing the 607 - Low Temperature message after installing a battery can be concerning, especially when the battery itself is new and appears to be functioning otherwise.

To help us better understand the situation, could you kindly share a few details?

  • Was the replacement battery an HP original battery or a compatible third-party battery?
  • Apart from the startup message, are you able to charge and use the notebook normally?
  • Could you kindly let us know whether the battery percentage increases and decreases correctly during charging and usage?

In the meantime, you may try the below steps and confirm :

1. Perform a Hard Reset

  1. Shut down the notebook.
  2. Disconnect the AC adapter.
  3. Press and hold the Power button for 15 seconds.
  4. Reconnect the adapter and restart the PC.

2. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

  1. Power off the notebook.
  2. Turn it on and repeatedly tap F2.
  3. Select Component Tests -Power -Battery.
  4. Run the extensive battery test and note any results or failure IDs.

3. Battery Calibration

Even though the UEFI test does not specifically request calibration, you can manually calibrate the battery:

  • Charge the battery to 100%.
  • Leave the adapter connected for about 2 hours.
  • Disconnect the adapter and use the notebook until the battery reaches a low level.
  • Recharge the battery uninterrupted back to 100%.

4. Restore BIOS Defaults

  1. Restart the computer and tap F10.
  2. Open BIOS Setup.
  3. Select Restore Defaults.
  4. Save and exit.

The HP Battery Alert 607 message is generally displayed when the system is unable to obtain a valid temperature reading from the battery's internal sensor.

This can occur if the battery communication sensor is not reporting correctly.

I hope this helps.

Hi

This battery is a third party compatable replacement. Today I got a second one. I have done all the things with both of these batteries, yet the problem percists. Is it possible that I got 2 faulty batteries in a row?
