Hi @Cor08,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

We understand how disappointing it is to encounter an error like 0xC1900101-0x20017 during a Windows 11 installation, especially after preparing your HP Pavilion 17-e083ed Notebook PC with Rufus and a clean ISO. You're not alone in this, and we’re here to help.

Steps to Resolve or Work Around

1. Check Windows 11 Compatibility

Your notebook is not officially supported for Windows 11 due to its older processor and graphics card. HP and Microsoft recommend staying on Windows 10 for the best stability.

👉 HP Support for Windows 11 & Windows 10: How to Upgrade & Fix Problems

2. Update BIOS and Drivers Before Attempting Upgrade

If you still want to try Windows 11:

  • Visit Official HP® Support
  • Enter your product number: F6F70EA#ABH
  • Download and install:
    • Latest BIOS update
    • Chipset drivers
    • Storage and graphics drivers

👉 HP PCs - Software recovery options (Windows 11 and Windows 10) | HP® Support

3. Use Microsoft’s Media Creation Tool Instead of Rufus

Rufus may create bootable media with legacy boot or incompatible partitions. Use the official Windows 11 Installation Assistant for better compatibility.

4. Stay on Windows 10 (Recommended)

Since you’ve extended support for Windows 10 until October 2026, this is the safest and most stable path for your device. HP will continue to provide updates and drivers for Windows 10 22H2.

Hi Vikram,

Thanks a lot for your quick reaction and suggestions but indeed, I am still aiming for an installation via a "workaround' because so far my laptop  is more than sufficient for my activities.

As mentioned by you I have tried to find the latest BIOS and Drivers updates but it looks like the HP Notebook 17-e083ed is also to old for HP.

See below executed tests and the 'reaction' on my search with the product number.

Hope you have other suggestions to get around the HP error.

Thanks in advance

Kind regards

Cor

Hi @Cor08,

Thank you for sharing the details. I tried checking the information for your PC, but it appears that the model has reached its end of life. Unfortunately, there are no specific drivers available for this model anymore. In this case, the system can continue to function using generic drivers.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

Thanks for your effort Vikram but this is not really helpful..

I new already that HP doesn't support my PC (bought 20140528) anymore.

Thanks for your effort but in fact it means that HP forces me to buy a new PC. Not because HP stopped supporting the PC but due to the fact that HP doesn't allow installing Windows11.

Kind regards

Cor
