Linux

Hello, everyone. Happy Sunday and start to your week. I'd appreciate your help in installing 19. 2 Linux MX with a USB stick.

When I turn my laptop on with the USB stick, it works perfectly fine but then the next time I turn it on, everything is erased; it doesn't work without the USB stick, when I try to just turn it on, I get a message of "the selected boot device failed".

I'm not double-booting or anything, I erased Windows 10 and used Rufus to make the USB stick.

I think the first step is checking the firmware, turning off secure boot...I'd like your help in this step and all others, please. Maybe changing UEFI to something else?

Should I install Windows again, turn off secure boot, uninstall it and then install Linux MX from the same USB stick? Thank you. Open to all suggestions. It might be something at BIOS.

I'm sorry, but HP does not provide support for Linux distros -- including boot and installation issues.

IF you replace the preloaded Windows OS with a Linux distro, or add a Linux distro, then you assume full responsibility for maintaining that -- including solving any problems with booting the other OS and/or installing the other OS.

Modern PCs with UEFI, instead of the older BIOS, are especially difficult to install because you have to go into the UEFI settings and make several changes before you can even boot from a USB stick -- and we are unable to assist in that work.

Your best bet for support now is to contact the support forum of the distro you are using.

Good Luck
