My problem is that I've landed on the blue "Boots Device not found" page, and when I get to the boots options, there's this exclamation point. What should I do?

Hi @Laptostudent,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're experiencing the "Boot Device Not Found" error on an HP device. Here are some solutions you can try:

Check and Reconnect the Hard Drive:

  • Ensure that the hard drive is properly connected. It may require opening up the device, so if you're not comfortable doing this, a professional technician's help is advisable.

Enter BIOS Setup:

  • Restart the computer and press the appropriate key (often "Esc", "F2", "F10", or "Del") to enter the BIOS/UEFI setup.
  • Check if the hard drive is detected under the boot menu.

Reset BIOS to Default Settings:

  • Within the BIOS menu, there is usually an option to reset the BIOS to its default settings. This can sometimes resolve the issue.

Run Hardware Diagnostics:

  • HP provides built-in diagnostic tools that you can access by rapidly pressing "F2" or "Esc" after turning on the computer. Use these to check the health of your hard drive.

Check the Boot Order:

  • Make sure that the boot order includes the hard drive where your operating system is installed. Sometimes, the order can be changed, leading to boot issues.

USB Network Adapter Issue:

  • The exclamation point on the USB network adapter could indicate a driver issue or that the network adapter is not working properly. Ensure that the drivers are updated and that the adapter itself is functioning well.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
