HI,
My apologies for the potentially, stupid question.
When booting into Windows, the bitlocker screen is only visible on the laptop itself, and not my 2 external monitors.
Once entering the bitlocker code, and arriving at the login screen, both screens are active, and able to be used.
Please advise 🙂

I may be wrong but I believe this is default behavior because bitlocker password is required before the OS will load. Project to external screen usually doesn't happen until after that. If you are hoping to boot without opening laptop display you should be able to simply type in the bitlocker pw blindly and get external screens working.
Have you checked BIOS settings to see if you have an option to set default boot screen to external?
A later BIOS version may change the behavior as I have seen a few Dell owners report that. Do you have latest BIOS?

Hi Cheryl,
Thank you for your response.
I'm working in the It-department for the company i'm working for, and i've seen on multiple other workstations that the screens boot up before Windows OS loads, though i'm not entirely sure what setting is controlling the behaviour on my computer, and what the difference(s) are.
Im terms of the BIOS version, I am on the latest version, and I am keeping the computer up-to-date using the HP Support Assistant Tool.
The BIOS version is: 01.06.00 (Q78)

If there is no setting in BIOS to change default boot screen to external and the other same models are projecting I really don't know what is controlling it either. @IT_WinSec may have an idea.

I share the same views as @CherylG
What you see is a default behavior. But it depends on the position of your display (kind of). Here is some clarification
- If your laptop (laptop screen) is open when you press the power-on button or during start up, the first picture (from BIOS/POST,Bitlocker, etc) will appear on your laptop's built-in screen. and may then move to the external monitors when the operating system begins to load
- If the laptop (laptop screen) is closed when you press the power-on button or during start up, the first picture (from BIOS/POST,Bitlocker, etc) cannot appear on your laptop's built-in screen because it's closed. It will appear on the external monitor. The laptop or the internal screen may be closed during PC or OS startup in 2 scenarios:
- your PC is docked on a docking station, it is completely closed and you start the machine by pressing the power-on button from the docking station and not from the PC
- the PC is either docked or undocked and you are restarting the computer
Based on your description, I think your laptop is open during start up
