Hello, I can't seem to be able to download my F.54 current BIOS anymore? Can someone be so kind to help me out with a link or file? I have the Intel chip.

Thank you,

Tom

Hi, Tom:

There is a newer BIOS version than F.54 if you are interested, which is F.55.

Here are the info and exe file links to BIOS version F.55:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp105501-106000/sp105952.html

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp105501-106000/sp105952.exe

Please read the release notes on the info link.

I do not believe that you can go back to an earlier version once you install F.55.

Here are the info and exe file links to the F.54 BIOS version you requested:

Hi Paul, I ran into a slight problem. I'm running Windows 11, and working beautifully so far.

But, the BIOS flash files won't execute and run for the first steps in Windows, I'm assuming it's because they are coded to work with Windows 10?

I don't suppose there's a work around for this? If not, and I want to update the BIOS to F.55, I can put Windows 10 back on, update, then put Windows 11 on. But, a lot of time involved.

In any case, I appreciate your time and files.

Thank you,

Tom

Hi, Tom:

All of these HP BIOS files act differently.

I've updated the BIOS' on some of my HP notebooks (all unsupported for W11), but running W11 with no problem.

I just tried running both BIOS updates I gave you to see if they would create a BIOS recovery flash drive which you could have used to update the BIOS outside of Windows.

Both files would not open, and gave me some driver security warning that kept popping up every second or so.

I've gotten that before on some other HP BIOS files on W11.

What baffles me is I have created USB BIOS recovery drives on W11 with much older HP BIOS files for other notebooks.

There is probably some security setting in W11 you can change to allow the file to run, but my advice to you would be one of the following:

You indicated the PC is running beautifully on W11.

You may want to consider not updating the BIOS if the PC is running fine.

Your other option would be to reinstall W10 and update the BIOS since W10 does not have that extra driver security setting that W11 has.

Hi Paul,

Thanks, I may leave well enough alone, but, the update obsession in me wants to figure this out. This laptop was the last Windows 10 machine in my house before updating to W11. I may go to my neighbors, that still has a W10 machine, run the file to create a USB drive, bring it back home, stick the USB in, start my laptop holding down W + B and Power, to see if it will upgrade?

Thanks,

Tom

You're very welcome, Tom.

Yes, that sounds like a plan...use another W10 PC to create the recovery drive with:

Thanks Paul, I'll try this within the next couple days, and let you know if it works?

Thanks,

Anytime, Tom:

Yes, I would be very interested in knowing if you can create USB BIOS recovery drives with those files and safely update the BIOS.

Good luck,

Paul
