hp 255g5

hello

i have an hp 255 g5 with amd e2-7110 apu with amd radeon r2 graphics, 4gb ddr3 ram, 500gb hdd. i have been trying to repair by installing windows 10 pro on it using a usb stick. unfortunately it does not reach the windows setup screen. it brings a blue screen error. when i tried with windows 7, ti booted but also brought an error saying 'windows cannot install, missing drivers. i then tried a windows 7 dvd and it worked. i installed win 7 but before bringing the window to type computer name, it got stuck on the windows logo. when i checked bios i found that on  factory installed OS it says 'non-windows' and on the system configuration,  mbr and gpt saving to flash is disabled. can anyone suggest what i should do to resolve these problems.

thanks in advance

Hi

Start your research here...

https://support.hp.com/gb-en/product/hp-255-g5-notebook-pc/10193058/manuals

Originally there was a choice of OS's that could be factory installed...

Preinstalled
Windows 10 Home 64
Windows 10 Pro 64
Windows 7 Professional 64 (available through downgrade rights from Windows 10 Pro 64)
FreeDOS 2.0

There is a recent BIOS update you could consider trying to apply...

HP Notebook System BIOS Update (AMD Processors)

F.36 Rev.A 20.4 MB Jan 10, 2020 Download

Hi

Well you are posting, and I assumed, perhaps wrongly, that you have a means of making a Bootable USB.

The long version is here....

Hopefully one of these documents will cover (and solve) your problem...

I sometimes tell posters that if they have a DVD that boots, they can copy the DVD to a small partition at the back of HDD and run setup from there. By using the command prompt and making an X: or Z: drive, like in the attachment.

Which if done with W10 would negate the need for a USB.

But I am somewhat creative in partition juggling.

Just to get the PC working I install Linux Mint or Lubuntu.

Both of which are fully fledged Operating Systems in their own right, and can Dual Boot with Windows.

LinuxMintGparted.jpgLubGparted.pngThen make a W10 DVD for install.

Please try a step forward in one direction or another and ask again.
