Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Hi, I am hoping someone may be able to help. I have searched online but don't seem t9 be getting anywhere.

My laptop had a message yesterday saying update and close, which I did as I was turning it off. This morning, it said that it was updating and do not turn off. Seemed to finish. It now however, says Failure configuring Windows updates Undoing changes don't turn off your computer.  It has said this message all morning.

I have tried a hard reset, which said would not work.  I am unable to try most of the resets that I have seen as I can get past this screen.

I do hope that someone is able to help.

Thanks

@Mummarew,

Welcome to the HP Forums 🙂 I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers. For you to have the best experience on the HP forum, you could also visit our HP Forums Guide for First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More. I see from your post that you're having issues with the notebook failed a Windows update and will no longer boot. Don't worry we'll work together to help you find a solution.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Have you tried to perform a system restore to a previous date where it was all working?

Did you happen to run any test on the computer from F2?

In the meantime, let's try these steps here:

Perform a Hard reset on the notebook

Many startup errors and other problems can be resolved by decreasing the amount of power stored in hardware components. Decreasing stored power is sometimes referred to as a "Hard Reset". Use the following steps to perform a hard reset on a computer:

1. If Windows is open, click Start and then Shutdown.

If Windows is not open and the computer has power, press and hold the power button on the computer until the computer shuts off.

2. With the power off, disconnect the power cord from the back of the computer.

3. With the power off and the power cord disconnected, press the power button on the computer for 5 seconds. The power light indicator on or near the power button might turn on briefly but then go out.

4. Reconnect the power cord and turn on the power.

Since you have mentioned in your post that it happened after the recent Windows update, I would suggest here is to Run an extensive system diagnostics test from F2 (Please remember to capture the failure ID for further assistance).

If the test fails, then this clearly indicates a possible hardware failure with the notebook.

If the test passes, this could be a software or driver related issue.

I would suggest the next option would be to perform a system reset on the PC, For more details, please go through this support document - HP PCs - Resetting Your Computer (Windows 10)

Could you please respond to this post with the details and with the results of the troubleshooting as this will help me in further assisting you.

Eagerly waiting for your response!

that said, If the information I've provided was helpful,

give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,

that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Good Luck.
