Hello,
I've just recently bought my new Hp Probook 430 G4 Windows 10 Pro 64-bit and the fingerprint scanner does not seem to be working. These are the things i have tried doing;
- Gone to device manager and under biometric devices there is a Synaptics FP Sensors (WBF) (PID=003f)
- Check the BIOS and fingerprint is enabled
- Set up my fingerprint on the HP Client Security
- Set up fingerprint on Windows Hello (Also with PIN)
Also, everytime i go through the process of adding my fingerprints on both windows hello and hp client security and then closing and reopening my computer, I go back to the set up and the security client says the fingerprint device is not connected.
Please reply as i am very keen to use this function!!

I can offer the following to help you untangle the morass:
Computer - Website Support Driver Page:
Depending on the time between the computer was manufactured and the time you purchased it, there may have been enough time for one or more of the Drivers to become outdated.
Please create a Restore Point before making changes to your computer
- Document help: System Restore XP OR System Restore W7 OR System Restore W8-W10
- (How to) Create Restore Point
Stop all programs: Browsers, games, Applications, etc.
Control Panel > icon view > System > System Protection >
Click (Highlight) your main disk (C) > Select Create a Restore Point

How to Do a System Restore of Windows 10
HP Drivers must be installed and up-to-date
For example, Chipset driver must be current.
Important, too, is the fingerprint driver software -- in most cases, you want to have installed the latest version of the driver.
Download and save the latest Fingerprint Driver
Synaptics (Validity) Fingerprint Sensor Driver
Try / Consider
If you find that the installed driver is already on the right version (in the Device Manager), you can elect to Uninstall the existing driver (do not tick box to Delete) > Restart your computer and log in.
The driver will reinstall itself during boot / login.
If the simple driver Uninstall does not kick it hard enough,
- Uninstall the driver from the Device Manager and tick the box to Delete the driver
- Restart the computer and log in
- Open the folder in which you saved the downloaded fingerprint driver and double-click on the software package to install it
- After the driver installation is complete, Restart the computer and log in (again)
NOTES:
Windows 10 fingerprint logon is separate from Client Security.
Ensure the Windows 10 fingerprint logon setup is functional,
then add Client Security program.
PIN assignment is mandatory to enable fingerprint reader
Windows key > Settings > Account > Sign-in Options > PIN number
- Windows Hello and the Windows fingerprint logon
