Microsoft Windows 11

When my Omen PC goes into sleep mode and then I wake it up, its front light continues to slowly flash, indicating that it is in sleep mode. However, the computer is not in sleep mode as I am currently using it to write this question. I have to restart it every time to make it stop. Q1: If it's not in sleep mode, why is it flashing? Q2: How do I make it stop?

Hi @Birgit3G,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I understand how frustrating it must be when your Omen PC behaves unexpectedly after waking from sleep mode. The flashing front light can be confusing, especially when the system seems to be working fine otherwise. Let’s try to troubleshoot this issue together.

  • Does this issue occur every time your PC goes into sleep mode, or is it intermittent?
  • Have you recently made any changes to your PC's settings, such as power settings or driver updates, that might affect how the system behaves after sleep mode?
  • Does the flashing light stop immediately after you restart the PC, or does it persist after a reboot?

Meanwhile,

Update Your Drivers:

  • Outdated drivers, especially the graphics or chipset drivers, can cause unusual behavior after sleep mode. Use the HP Support Assistant or check Device Manager to make sure all drivers are up to date.

Adjust Power Settings:

  • Go to Control Panel > Power Options and check the settings for sleep mode. Set the PC to never go to sleep or adjust the settings to ensure the system properly exits sleep mode.

Check for Windows Updates:

  • Sometimes, a system update might resolve this issue. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and make sure all updates are installed.

Disable Fast Startup:

  • In some cases, the fast startup feature can cause problems when waking from sleep. Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do, and uncheck Turn on fast startup.

Perform a System Reset for Sleep Settings:

Let me know how these steps go.

hi there. I appreciate the help.

1. It happens every time it goes into sleep mode

2. The last thing I did to my computer was update windows to the latest and greatest version of 11

3.  Rebooting my computer does not fix the flashing light.  I have to shut down, wait 30 seconds and then restart my computer

4. All my drivers are up to date

5. All updates have been installed

6. My power options are set higher than normal. i.e - sleep mode starts after 1 hour

7. More problems have surfaced now.  My bluetooth devices are having a hard time connecting.  I now have to shut down and restart to get them to connect.

I feel like I have a gremlin in my computer.
