HP Recommended
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
Shut down from windows does not power the laptop off. It enters a state where the fan runs at max and the display is blank. A press of the power button brings up the screen with the hp logo and prompt to press ESC to enter setup. Boot proceeds but takes a very long time before windows starts to load. If I remove then reinsert the battery, the behavior is the same -- fan screams without pressing the power button and boot is very slow. The only way to power off is to remove the battery. Caps lock and scroll lock indicators flash randomly when powering up. I've opened up the bottom, cleaned out the dust, removed and reseated the RAM and SSD. Diagnostic utility on memory and drive check good. What's next?
