Hello,

 

I purchased a pre-owned HP 440 G5 notebook off eBay. The notebook has a BIOS password set which I do not know and I am unable to get any help from the seller.

How can I reset the BIOS password?

Hi:

 

Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do to help you, since HP will no longer supply the required SMC.bin file that is used to clear the BIOS password.

 

That was the only way it could be done.

Most HP business notebooks including the one you have, do not generate system disabled codes.

 

Also, removing the CMOS battery will not clear the P/W.
