Hello there,
the laptop is relatively new, still within warranty, that means a lot of fixes already posted in this community will not work as they have been patched by HP.
What are my chances of making the laptop work?
When I turn it on, first thing it does is that it asks for bios/administrator password in a blue window on a black screen.
What I tried:
1. Add wrong password 3x. There should be a number that I can give to someone and they will give me a code to unlock, but for me, instead of the code I get the serial number and and an option to insert the HP SpareKey USB recovery key.
2. I cannot access BIOS nor I can access any boot menu, so booting from USB, updating bios etc. are out of option.
3. CMOS reset does not work, BIOS security is probably already stored on some flash storage so just resetting CMOS does nothing to change the condition. I see the cmos reset screen and then it restarts and asks for the password.
4. I have tried every variant and combination of the password, but it was either mistyped when it was added or there is some kind of error on the computer´s side.
5. I have contacted HP support with a call request that was said will happen in 10 minutes but no call was ever received.
I do have a proof of ownership (invoice and bill from the shop where it was bought.
Disclaimer - the laptop does not belong to me nor it ever will, I am fixing it for a school entity called DOMINO that contracts me for tech maintenance and in coordination with responsible school authority.
