Hi. I have an HP Pavilion 13-a091nr x360 that was given to my daughter by her friend. Its one of the convertable type laptops. The problem is that it has a power on password that my daughters friend doesn't remember. I've tried using the hash code given after 3 failed attempts on those bios password generators but none seem to work. I took the laptop apart looking for the cmos battery but there isn't one so I can't go that route. I noticed that everytime a hash code is generated its a different code. I don't know if thats normal or not but thought I would include that bit of information just in case. The last code that was generated was (FA330AF8).
Thanks in advance for any help

Thanks for the reply. as I said in the above post there is no RTC Cell/battery. The mother board has the option for one but the socket hasn't even been soldered onto it. I see the outline on the pcb and the blank pads but the socket isn't there let alone the battery itself. However I figured out how to reset the password. So because this laptop has a main battery that is not removable ( you have to take apart the laptop to get to it). It made since to me that you wouldn't use the little round rtc battery because the rtc would just use the main non removable battery. So I did everything you would do by removing the little battery but with the main battery. and sure enough it reset my bios and thereby reset my password.
thanks again for the reply!

Hi @JoshG777
Welcome to the HP Support forum. Thank you for posting.
If the last thing you posted is the last code and if the code change everytime, your computer is producing a hexadecimal halt code which is stored in RAM as a 'one off' and will probably be re-calculated after a reboot. You may still be able to remove the BIOS/power on password from the machine by removing the RTC cell/battery. However, it might be on not a very good place in your PC (place, not so easy to access).
It is recommended that you contact HP Support and ask them for the BIOS password removal:
If in the USA, call toll free 1-(800)-474-6836
Hope this helps.
