G72
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

G72 Product ID = XL280AV. Serial No [removed].  Current BIOS (HP F.48) Date is 11/09/2011.

I cloned my HDD to a Samsung  860 EVO SSD; it was successfull as tested from a USB port (StarTech USB 3.0 SATA 2.5" Hard Drive Enclosure) after booting the G72.  However, replacing the HDD with the SSD in the laptop did not allow for booting.  The current laptop BIOS only allows booting from a HDD or a CD/ DVD so the HDD/ SSD switch did not work.  I suppose I could make/ use a boot USB or CD with the SSD in the laptop but that approach would slow down the boot.  Help: I need a new/ updated BIOS.

Sorry, but HP has not produced BIOS updates for Win7-era PCs for several years now, and is not doing so in the future.
