Hello I need help with my Victus Gaming Laptop By HP so two days ago or three days ago I had went to take a break from my laptop I come back to use it again and for some odd reason it was on then it shut off on me I was ok weird go to turn on it completely turns back off try again does it again do it again and again yet nothing works go do some research “Do a hard reset by holding the power button” “Open up the laptop and disconnect the battery” I did those things and yet still don’t work I went to do more research I saw an old HP Community post saying to hold Windows + B and press the power key once to attempt to restore the BIOS yet doesn’t work either but I did seen something when I hold the power button for to long it flashes once and twice then shuts off I ever let this thing run for a day yet no output or anything can anyone help me with this issue please and thank you (Contacted Best Buy whom I had bought this from they said it could be a motherboard issue and one thing I forgot to mention FAN #1 or #2 isn’t spinning while one Fan is)

Hi @That0nePerson

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for laying that out in detail — sounds like your Victus Gaming Laptop by HP is completely failing POST (power-on self-test). Based on what you’ve described:

It powers on for a moment, then shuts off immediately.

No display / no HP logo output.

Hard reset + battery disconnect didn’t help.

Win + B BIOS recovery doesn’t trigger recovery.

One fan spins, the other does not.

Sometimes you see LED blinks when holding the power button.

This narrows it down to hardware-level failure, and unfortunately it’s beyond just software or BIOS corruption. Let’s go through the possibilities step by step:

What Could Be Happening

Motherboard failure

If a component on the board (e.g., power delivery, VRM, or chipset) failed, the system won’t complete POST.

The “one fan spinning” while the other stays dead is a strong indicator of this.

Faulty GPU or CPU

Since this is a gaming laptop, a failed dedicated GPU could prevent booting. Normally, the laptop should fall back to integrated graphics, but if the GPU is shorting the board, it can power cycle.

RAM or SSD issue

Try reseating/removing RAM sticks one at a time.

If you have two sticks, test with one at a time.

Same with the SSD — a failed NVMe drive can hang POST, though usually you’d still see the HP logo.

Battery/Power Delivery issue

You mentioned you tried running it without the battery — if it still shuts down, then it’s not just a bad battery.

Could still be an issue with the DC power jack or internal power delivery circuits.

What You Can Try at Home

Reseat RAM & SSD: Pull them out, clean contacts, reseat. Try booting with only one RAM stick.

External Display: Plug into HDMI, just in case it’s a display/connector issue (though unlikely if it shuts down).

Minimal Boot: Disconnect everything (SSD, battery, WiFi card, etc.) and try to power on with just motherboard + RAM.

If it still doesn’t POST or show BIOS recovery with Win + B, then it’s almost certainly a motherboard-level failure.

Question for you: when you press power, do you see any LED blink codes (caps lock, num lock, or power LED blinking in a pattern)? HP laptops use those as diagnostic codes, and that could help confirm if it’s a CPU, memory, or system board fault.

Would you like me to pull up the exact LED blink/beep code meanings for Victus models so you can check against yours?

Hello, Hawkes_eye yes please I would like you to pull up the LED blink/Beep Code I think it could blinking once or twice

@That0nePerson

Thanks for getting back to us and sharing the blink pattern.

Here’s what the blinking patterns generally indicate for HP laptops like your Victus model:

1 Blink: Memory (RAM) not detected or memory failure

2 Blinks: Memory module error or failure (could be faulty RAM stick or slot)

3 Blinks: Graphics card error (GPU failure)

4 Blinks: BIOS corruption or failure

5 Blinks: CPU failure

6 Blinks: BIOS authentication failure

7+ Blinks: Motherboard or system board failure

Since you are seeing one or two blinks, this points strongly to a RAM-related issue.

What to Try Next

Reseat the RAM

Power off and unplug your laptop.

Open the back cover carefully (if you’re comfortable doing this).

Remove the RAM sticks completely, then reinsert them firmly one at a time.

Try booting with only one stick at a time to identify if one might be faulty.

Test RAM Slots

If possible, test each RAM stick in different slots.

This helps determine if the issue is the RAM stick itself or the slot on the motherboard.

Remove External Devices

Disconnect everything non-essential (SSD, WiFi card, external peripherals) to do a minimal boot with just RAM and motherboard.

Check the Fans & Power

Since one fan isn’t spinning, it could be related to power delivery or overheating protection kicking in.

After reseating RAM, see if this behavior changes.

Let’s work together to get your Victus back in top shape.
