I purchased the Camo Special Edition laptop for my son for christmas this year, due to the sellout of this laptop I end up with purchasing the display model. I was told this was taken off of display mode before I left the store. Once I got home I powered up the laptop to set it up for him to be ready to play once he opens this. I recieved the error SMART hard disk check has detected an imminent failure. Hard Disk 1 (301) I ran the test as it said and came back with the code OTSDWJ-8LX99P-XD7X7A-609R03.....what does this mean? and can this be fixed or should I return this back to the store? Also when I put in the Serial number on the HP website it says that the Manufacturer Warranty has expired, I do not understand how this is possibly begin I just purchased this laptop.

Hi:
It can be fixed but I would take the notebook back to the store and get a refund.
You would need to replace the hard drive and reinstall the operating system.
HP starts the warranty clock ticking the minute the notebook leaves the assembly plant, so that model must have been sitting around for quite some time.
So, you have two issues...
You have to submit a warranty dispute to get the warranty start and end dates adjusted.

Then you have to send the notebook in to HP to get it fixed.
Do you really want to deal with those problems right from the get-go?
Run and take it back to the store for a refund.
With all the Holiday sales coming up, you can probably get a real good deal on another HP notebook that works.
