@PrinceAkai,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Your HP laptop's hard drive is failing, which is why it takes a long time to start. The "HD parameters have exceeded normal operation range" error from the diagnostic test confirms that the drive is degrading and should be replaced.

Back Up Your Data Immediately

Since the hard drive is failing, there's a risk it could stop working completely. Do the following:

  • Copy important files to an external hard drive, USB drive, or cloud storage.
  • If Windows is still accessible, you can use File History or OneDrive for backup.
  • You can also create a full disk image using software like Macrium Reflect or EaseUS Todo Backup.

Replace the Hard Drive

Since the diagnostics recommend a replacement, you will need a new drive. Here’s how you can proceed:

Choose a Replacement:

  • If you have an HDD (hard disk drive), consider upgrading to an SSD (solid-state drive) for better performance.
  • Common sizes are 2.5-inch SATA SSD or M.2 NVMe SSD, depending on your laptop model.
  • Let me know your HP laptop model, and I can suggest the best type.

Install the New Drive:

  • You can either replace the old drive yourself or take it to a professional.
  • If doing it yourself, you'll need a small screwdriver and possibly a USB-to-SATA adapter to clone the old drive.

Install Windows on the New Drive

After replacing the drive, you will need to reinstall Windows:

  • You can create a Windows installation USB using Microsoft's Media Creation Tool.
  • If your laptop has HP Recovery, you may be able to reinstall Windows from HP’s recovery partition.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
