I have a motherboard hardware failure. Don't suggest any reset sequences or BIOS recovery sequences, I tried them all. This is a component repair question.
If anyone has an idea of the component that may have failed, please weigh in here.
It was working on the laptop and suddenly shut off for no reason
HP 14-dq1033cl will not boot. Power light is off for about two second, on for 1.5 seconds, and off again, forever, with the battery only.
With the power supply and battery attached, the power LED will cycle will cycle white, or and, off white orange, off. So it "boots up" far enough to start charging.
With the battery disconnected, the power LED and charger LED flash the same way.
When I apply a voltmeter to the battery, I see 12.28V across the battery terminals when the LED is on, and a drop to 11.75V when the LED goes off. As the LED turns on, the battery momentarily (250-500ms) drops to 11.65V before ramping up to 12.28V for about a second before the LED goes off and the voltage drops back to 11.75V.
Nothing obviously burned.
So it starts up at a low level and then immediately stops.
Replaced the DRAM, no difference.
I will be scrapping the motherboard unless I can zero in on the component or section that is failing. Is there a way to see if the BIOS chip is OK without the cooperation of the motherboard?

Thank for the fast reply. No warranty, or course. And no way I know to reflash the BIOS without bootability.
I can work with some surface mount soldering if this specific situation sounds familiar to anyone.
