Hello,
My PC suddenly stopped and now it does not boot, CAPS light blinks 3 LONG (pause) 2 SHORT. I tried to find out what it means and apparently it should be a memory problem. I tried to remove/change memory modules but no change. Any clue? Do you think the motherboard is dead? Thanks for your answer

Remove memory and examine it for corrosion. Use an eraser to clean the contacts. Use an air duster to clean as much of the memory socket contacts. Examine socket contacts for corrosion. Use this video as a guide, try each memory stick one at a time.
Did anything unusual happen that might have caused the problem?

I did all you told me but it did not work. I removed the battery also.. no change. Finally I put it in a case for 24 hours with battery removed. Today I plugged it... and it started, it worked for about half an hour and then the screen turned blank (with fans and power still on). Then I switched it off by maintening power button for about 5 secs. It went off and then once again impossible to turn it on again... leds blinking. I'm afraid it's a serious damage.

It may be just overheating. makes sure all the fans are running and also check the temperature.

Well, I tried two more times, the fans are turning not very fast. One thing I noticed is that the image is slightly distorted just before it hangs. Trembling, horizontal lines, yellow rectangles at different places... and then total freeze and 30 seconds later black screen. Graphic chip? it's part of the CPU in those machine isn't it?
