HP ENVY x360 15.6 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 15-ey0000 (54J84AV)

My Envy 360 notebook laptop won't start by pressing the power button. After consulting the support I found that by performing a BIOS recovery using windows key +B + power button, I can actually boot up the laptop. But once the laptop is shut down, to turn it back up the power button doesn't work and I have to perform another BIOS recovery to start the laptop. Does this mean the BIOS chip of my laptop is very likely to be faulty? Thanks

Hi @HappyDavid2025,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your laptop!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Reset BIOS Settings:

  • After accessing the BIOS setup using the recovery method, try resetting the BIOS to its default settings. Save the changes and exit to see if this resolves the issue.

Update or Re-flash the BIOS:

  • If you haven’t already, consider updating the BIOS to the latest version available. Visit the HP Support website to download the most recent BIOS update specific to your model.

Check Power and Hardware Connections:

  • Ensure that all hardware components are properly connected. Loose connections, especially with RAM or storage, can sometimes cause startup issues.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Shut down the laptop, disconnect all external devices, and unplug the AC adapter. Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds. Then reconnect the power and try starting the laptop normally.

Test with Different Power Supply:

  • Verify if the power supply is functioning correctly. Sometimes, issues with the AC adapter or battery can affect startup processes.

Run Hardware Diagnostics:

  • Use HP’s built-in diagnostics tool to check for hardware issues. You can usually access this tool by pressing the F2 key during startup.

I hope this helps.
