HP assistant on my laptop indicated a BIOS update was needed. I began the process. All seemed to be going fine and the update progress bar moved rapidly to 90+%. I stepped away to let it complete the process, and when I came back a couple minutes later the screen had gone blank. Glowing as tho powered, but blank and the machine doesn't respond to any keystrokes. I'm afraid the update has bricked my laptop. Any steps I can take to recover it?

It should restart to update BIOS and the bar is going up then restart again. Normally the process takes few minutes and we SHOULD NOT go away during the BIOS update process.

Hope your machine is OK now

Regards.

Left it overnight Incase there were background ops going on I couldn't see. This morning it is as I left it. Not sure what different would've made if I'd watched the screen go black or had my back turned. In either event the result is the same.
