HP Chromebook 14 inch 14a-ne0000 (68J70AV)

My son's Chromebook 14 had battery power and was working last night. He plugged it in before bed but when he went to turn it on this morning it wouldn't.  It is not charging and there is no indication that it is either...i.e..light indicator....My warranty just expired in October of this year and now my son's Chromebook is not working of no fault of his nor my own. This is very disappointing as this is my son's for his school work. Can y'all extend the warranty so I may get this issue fixed? I am a single mother and I recently got diagnosed with cancer...this is the last thing I need added to my plate.

Hi @Jstohr85,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm truly sorry to hear about your situation, and I understand how frustrating and stressful this must be, especially with your son relying on the Chromebook for school. Here's what you can try in the meantime.

Troubleshooting Steps for the Chromebook:

Hard Reset the Chromebook:

  • Disconnect the charger.
  • Hold the Refresh key (circular arrow) and tap the Power button for 10 seconds.
  • Release both and try turning the device on.

Check the Power Adapter:

  • Make sure the charger is properly plugged into a working outlet.
  • If you have another compatible USB-C charger, try it to rule out a faulty adapter.

Inspect for Physical Issues:

  • Look for damage to the charger, charging port, or Chromebook itself.
  • Clean the charging port with a soft brush to ensure no debris is blocking the connection.

Leave It Charging:

  • Sometimes, if the battery is deeply discharged, it may take up to an hour of charging before the indicator light appears. Leave the device plugged in and check periodically.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
