HP Chromebook 14-db0500sa
Chrome OS

Hi

I have a brand new Chromebook which kept freezing on the initial setup at various points.  It froze when I tried to connect it to WiFi and I had to hold down the power button to turn it off.  It then kept randomly freezing either at logon or when launching any apps such as Chrome or the Chrome Web Store so I performed a powerwash and started again but I experienced the same issue.  I have now performed a powerwash a further two times and on the last occasion I was able to get it connect to WiFi and update it to the latest Chromium OS.  However, it still keeps freezing and I have to turn it off by holding the power button.  Anyone have any suggestions?

@Abramm

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

If your Chromebook is crashing or freezing:

  • Turn off your Chromebook, then turn it back on.
  • Close all your apps and browser windows.
  • If a specific tab in your browser causes your Chromebook to crash or freeze, hard refresh the page: Ctrl + Shift + r.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
