HP Chromebook x360 - 14-da0011dx
Chrome OS

When my Chromebook goes to sleep, either on its own or by closing the lid, sometimes the screen will not power back on after I press the power button. It remains black. I've tried soft resetting the Chromebook as well as doing a full factory reset but neither seems to have resolved the problem. Has anyone found a working solution for this issue? It's to the point where I'm thinking of buying another machine because doing a hard reset to get my laptop out of sleep mode half the time is not worth it.

Hi@J_Ploeg,

Welcome to the HP Support Community! I'd like to help!

I see you are experiencing issues with the HP Chromebook X360 Won't Resume From Sleep.

I have a few recommendations

  • Resetting the Chromebook,
  • Factory reset erases all the information on your Chromebook's hard drive, including your settings, apps, and files.
  • Factory reset your Chromebook

  1. Sign out of your Chromebook.
  2. Press and hold Ctrl + Alt + Shift + r.
  3. Select Restart.
  4. In the box that appears, select Powerwash and then Continue.
  5. Follow the steps that appear and sign in with your Google Account.
Note: The account you sign in with after you reset your Chromebook will be the owner account.
  6. Once you've reset your Chromebook:

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
