HP ELITEBOOK 840 G7

hi i bought an HP ELITEBOOK 840 G7 from my cousin's friend i try to format the device but i cant access the bios menu... the previous owner told me that he forgot the password. i tried to search online for solution and someone told me to ask for an smc.bin file from hp  i tried to contact hp but i still cant connect to a live chat support please help.

You were told incorrectly -- as HP no longer distributes those file -- which were the only way a customer could reset a forgotten BIOS password.

 

For BIOS or power-on password resets, because the password is encoded onto a chip on the motherboard, replacement of that motherboard is required. HP does not reset the BIOS password on the current motherboard.

If you are not prepared to spend the money to get HP to replace the motherboard, you would have to take the PC to a local repair facility to see if they can do it for you -- but we can not assist in that in any way.
