HP ENVY 15t-j000 Quad Edition CTO Notebook PC

I was given a laptop from my in-laws and they pretty much said "If you can fix it, you can have it." I'm not a SUPER techy person, but I know my way around. I've tried literally everything I can find on the internet including the HP website. I've ran all the tests and everything comes up as "passed" so I really don't understand what the issue is at this point. Black screen and shows the following:

"Boot Device Not Found"

"Please Install am operating system on your hard disk"

"Hard disk (3F0)"

"F2 System Diagnostics"

"For more information, please visit (long website here)"

Hi:

If everything passed the hardware tests, try installing reinstalling Windows.

Most of those notebooks came with Windows 8 64 bit from HP.

But W8 was never available for download from Microsoft, so what you have to do is to install W8.1 but you need to do a couple of things.

Install W8.1 by creating the Microsoft installation media, using another Windows PC if yours is not working...You want the plain W8.1 64 bit ISO file.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows8ISO

At the beginning of the installation routine, you can delete every partition on the hard drive.

If you are asked to enter a product key during the installation process, use this generic key.

This is the generic key for W8.1 'standard.'

If you had to enter the generic key, manually change the generic product key to the W8 'standard' key in your PC's BIOS in the PC settings menu.

After you get W8.1 installed, and you had to manually enter the generic product key, you will need to run the free utility I zipped up and attached below, that will show you show the W8 product key in your PC's BIOS.

I have also zipped up and attached below, the Microsoft tool which hopefully will transfer the ISO file to a DVD or USB flash drive, so it is bootable, or you can use a free utility such as Rufus.

Then you can install the available drivers and software from the PC's support page.

Still nothing.  I even went out and got a flash drive for this.  It boots, it installs the files, it says it needs to restart and counts down from 10, it restarts, goes right back to the installation screen (select a language, keyboard layout, etc.) so this did NOT work.

The only other suggestion I can offer would be to remove the USB flash drive during the restart at the instant the PC shuts down before restarting.

I've had to do that before on some PC's.

I wasn't paying attention once and I think I let that happen 2 times before I realized I was back to square one.

Removing the flash drive right when the PC turned off during the restart allowed Windows to complete installing.

Still nothing. Now I'm getting a completely different screen saying there's no bootable device again (which, obviously there isn't because I removed it, but why would I need it if I have the OS installed now?).

Visual for my latest message. I also don't get why it says "check cable" when nothing is plugged it. I'm regards to "insert boot disk and press any key" I then insert the USB drive, it flashes for 3 seconds, then stops flashing, I push a key, and get the exact same message
