I own a 13-year-old EliteBook 8460p notebook whose BIOS was last updated in 2018. Are there any users out there with an identical machine that could tell me the BIOS type on their Notebook. Is it legacy BIOS or UEFI?

I’m having problems booting from the internal drive (original post HERE) and going through the settings to see what’s amiss, have presumed the BIOS is legacy BIOS and not UEFI. There’s an option in the setup to select UEFI, but it comes with a warning stating that it’s not supported (by HP) on my notebook.

Any 8460p users out there who will advise?

On the remote chance it might help someone, I'm responding to my own post.

I threw caution to the winds and selected UEFI in the BIOS settings and ignored the "unsupported" warnings. Now I have a notebook that boots to the hard drive and allows me to select either Linux or Windows. Linux loads fine, but I will have to find a way to fix my Windows installation.
