Product: HP Elitebook Folio 9480m
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
My brother has been using this laptop for 3 Years and has never updated BIOS (frankly he doesn't know how to)
Onset of Issue:
A small power outage resulted in the laptop shutting down while on AC Power
Issue:
- Black screen with HP Logo appears. Does not go further ahead
- Upon pressing of Buttons (ESC, F2, F8, F10 etc), the option is shown but cannot access anything (Windows 10, BIOS, BIOS Recovery, BIOS Start Menu, System Diagnostics etc) only the option is shown as highlighted, doesn't move ahead
- No beeping sound
Solutions Tried but did NOT work:
- Hard Resetting ( by powering off and removing the battery + AC and pressing Power Button for 30 seconds for 3 times each)
- WIN + B Key combo shows Caps Lock Light as ON-OFF-ON-OFF-ON and so forth. Shows a completely black screen. Stays still on that screen. Nothing moves ahead (waited 15-20 minutes for this as well). No BEEPING sound as well.
- WIN + V Key combo just boots the system as if i'm pressing the power button (see: Issue)
- Tried taking out the Hard Drive - issue still persists
- Tried plugging out and plugging back the RAM Modules - issue still persists
- Went for BIOS Flashing by downloading the BIOS and making a USB Flash Recovery Drive from HP Support with the correct Serial Number. What Happens: When I use the WINS + B Key combo, its the same issue as when without Recovery BIOS USB attached, but this time instead of the screen staying blank, it tries to boot normally after 20-25 seconds (but ends up in the same HP Splash Screen as I've mentioned earlier)
I am all out of options as I've tried basically everything that the HP Support and many many Forums have told me to do. Would appreciate if someone took their time out for this. Thanks.
