Hi @MoMo1967

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP Envy is stuck in a boot loop after a Windows update. Here are some troubleshooting steps to resolve this:

Perform a Hard Reset

  1. Turn off the laptop.
  2. Disconnect all peripherals (USB drives, external displays, etc.).
  3. Unplug the charger and remove the battery (if removable).
  4. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
  5. Reconnect the battery and charger, then power it on.

Boot into Safe Mode

If your system keeps restarting:

  1. Turn off your laptop by holding the power button.
  2. Turn it on and force shut it down three times (hold the power button each time when the HP logo appears).
  3. On the fourth restart, Windows should enter Advanced Startup Mode.
  4. Select Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Settings > Restart.
  5. Press F4 to enter Safe Mode.

Once in Safe Mode:

  • Open Settings > Windows Update and uninstall the latest update.
  • Restart normally and check if the issue is resolved.

Run Startup Repair

If Safe Mode doesn’t work:

  1. Follow the same Advanced Startup Mode steps.
  2. Select Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Repair.
  3. Let Windows attempt to fix itself.

    Roll Back the Update

If Startup Repair fails:

  1. Go to Advanced Startup Mode > Troubleshoot > Advanced Options.
  2. Select Uninstall Updates.
  3. Choose Uninstall Latest Quality Update (or Feature Update if available).
  4. Restart and check if the problem is resolved.

Perform System Restore

If uninstalling updates doesn’t work:

  1. Boot into Advanced Startup Mode.
  2. Select Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > System Restore.
  3. Choose a restore point before the update.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Reset the PC (Last Resort)

If nothing works, you may need to reset your PC:

  1. Go to Advanced Startup Mode > Troubleshoot.
  2. Select Reset this PC.
  3. Choose Keep My Files to reinstall Windows without losing personal data.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
