I was hoping to have you unhook the hard drive and see if you could use Esc, F10 to enter BIOS. That is about the only thing you could do with no hdd-but it would indicate that the hdd is bad and that is preventing any of the F keys to work. Just looked at your Service Manual and you have one of the models that requires complete disassembly to even get to the hdd.Aargh.

If you love the laptop, I would replace the hard drive and boot with Recovery Media to get it working.A 500gb hdd wouldn't cost much. If you don't feel confident doing it yourself-Best Buy,Staples, almost any electronics store that sells laptops has a service dept. They may need that Service Manual so save the link. Lol

Immediately after powering on start tapping the Esc key. This will/should open a menu where F2 System Diagnostics is an option. Tap F2 key and run the tests.

Immediately after powering on I pressed the Esc key.
It opened a startup menu
F1 System Information - (F1 shows System Information)
F2 System Diagnostics - (F2 shows memory and hard drive test options System Diagnostics
F9 Boot Device Options - (F9 returns to initial blue screen)
F10 BIOS Setup - (F10 returns to initial blue screen)
F11 System Recovery - (F11 returns to initial blue screen)
I Tap F2 key as directed and run the tests
I ran Memory test and Hard drive test, Both test passed

Did you make your Recovery Media? If so insert the first disc or the usb flash drive and power on,tap Esc, then F9 Boot options to select CD/DVD drive or USB to boot from.

Despite the hard drive passing tests-I have a suspicion it is bad. Unhook it and see if you get further at Esc- such as tapping F10 to Enter BIOS.
