I was hoping to have you unhook the hard drive and see if you could use Esc, F10 to enter BIOS. That is about the only thing you could do with no hdd-but it would indicate that the hdd is bad and that is preventing any of the F keys to work. Just looked at your Service Manual and you have one of the models that requires complete disassembly to even get to the hdd.Aargh.

If you love the laptop, I would replace the hard drive and boot with Recovery Media to get it working.A 500gb hdd wouldn't cost much. If you don't feel confident doing it yourself-Best Buy,Staples, almost any electronics store that sells laptops has a service dept. They may need that Service Manual so save the link. Lol

I replaced the hard drive then proceeded to power up the Laptop,
a message said
Boot device not found
Please install an operating system on your hard disk
Hard disk (3FO)
F2 System Diagnostics

F2 not responding
So I started laptop along with tapping the (esc) Key attempting to open Start up menu,
startup menu opened with the following options
F1 - System Information - key responds, providing system information
F2 - System Diagnostics - key responds, providing Memory test & Hard Drive checks - I ran both and both passed
F9 - Boot Device Options (key non responsive)
F10 - Bios Setup (key non responsive)
F11 - System Recovery (key non responsive)
ENTER - Continue Startup

whats my next step towards normal startup
