HP Envy x360 15.6 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 15-fe0000 (77X86AV)

Hi HP Envy laptop will not start without power button being pressed several times. Also noted audio device is no longer installed.

Yesterday installed Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8.1 for Windows 11, version 22H2 for x64 (KB5034467)

Is there reason for this and what do I do? Had no issues previously

Hi @Ruby_12,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

It sounds like there may be a couple of issues with your HP Envy laptop. Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot:

Power Button Issue:

  • Ensure the power button is not physically stuck or damaged. Clean around the button gently with a soft cloth.
  • Try powering on the laptop while holding down the power button for about 10-15 seconds to reset the hardware.
  • Check for any BIOS updates for your laptop model on the HP support website and install them if available.

Audio Device Issue:

  • Go to Device Manager (Right-click on Start > Device Manager) and check if the audio device is listed under "Sound, video and game controllers." If it's not listed, there may be a driver issue.
  • Right-click on the "Sound, video, and game controllers" section and select "Scan for hardware changes" to see if the audio device is detected.
  • If the audio device is detected but has a yellow exclamation mark, right-click on it, select "Update driver," and follow the on-screen instructions to update the driver.

If these steps don't resolve the issues, it may be helpful to contact HP support, as this could be a hardware issue.

Keep me posted for further assistance.

Thank you for suggestions. Things got worst as HP advised to reset laptop now can't be used and now waiting for it to be fixed. It's now a hard drive issue as opposed to software. Very puzzling.

The HP test said audio issue solved yet still was a cross on it and attempts to add audio driver although listed would not activate.
