Laptop shuts down while on battery at 60% without warning. Will, not power on without AC power connected. When plugged it boots up fine. At reboot, no overheat warning CMOS error message comes up the (2032) battery was changed tonight. The CMOS battery change increased the usage 3% Now it shuts down at 57%. Bios reset to defaults, date and time are correct. The (6 cell) battery is just over a year old (9/17). Software and Hp battery tests show its fine. It charges to capacity (47111 mWh) both charge and discharge rates look ok. Heat monitor shows system temp averaging around 55c at idle and online (currently it has maxed at 67c). Did a complete image backup. Defraged the hard drive and backup hard drive.  BIOS/Date version is Insyde F.14, 1/4/2013 and SMBIOS Version 2.7. Passed all UEFI tests. Completed Performance Tune Up, network, battery, and audio checks and all passed. All three firewalls are up. Virus scans complete 1/30/19 at 3:47 am 0 threats found.  Windows update complete 1/30/2019 4:52 a.m (0 needed). Health report shows no issues. Checked Programs and Features nothing out of the ordinary installed recently.  DId a system test overnight everything Passed except for Long drive test it shows canceled,  Ran Long Drive Test again it ran the morning until this after and passed.

 

Any ideas here?

Don't worry I'll to help you out. Please answer a few questions below in order to assist you better.

 

Did you make any software or hardware changes on your laptop?

 

Have you tried charging your laptop using a different adapter or battery?

 

Does the laptop shut down while you are at the BIOS page?

 

Excellent description and a great diagnosis done. It is greatly appreciated.

 

Try updating the BIOS and chipset drivers on your PC and check if it helps.

 

Ty updating the BIOS version to F.18 using this link. Click Here

 

You can try updating other drivers on the PC using HP support assistant.

 

Refer this article to know more information about using HP support assistant.

 

Uninstall the latest Windows Update from Windows 10.

  1. In Windows, search for and open Troubleshoot settings.

  2. Click Windows Update, and then click Run the troubleshooter. The utility scans your computer.

  3. Follow the on-screen instructions and make any suggested changes. When done, close the troubleshooter.

    If the issue persists, continue with these steps.

  4. In Windows, search for and open Check for updates.

  5. Under Windows Update, click View update history.

  6. On the update history window, click Uninstall updates. A list of recent updates displays.

  7. Click the name of the update to uninstall, and then click Uninstall.

Try restoring the BIOS to default and check if it helps.

 

1.    Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.
2.    Press the Power button to start the computer and repeatedly press the F10 key to enter the BIOS setup menu.
3.    On the BIOS Setup screen, press F9 to select and load the BIOS Setup Default settings.
4.    Press F10 to Save and Exit.
5.    Use the arrow keys to select Yes, then press Enter when asked Exit Saving Changes?
6.    Follow the prompts to restart your computer.

 

Also, try the steps recommended below.

 

Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
Click Advanced system settings.
Click the Advanced tab.
In the Startup and Recovery section, click Settings.
Click to clear the Automatically restart check box.
 

If the issue persists try running a system diagnostics test on your PC and check if the hardware components on your PC are functioning correctly.

It as the 9 cell battery, not sure what the issue was. Its newer about a year or two. Reinstalled than the original and it dies when it should and notifications pop ups are now working.  Now it has developed an overheating will start new thread for that.
