Can you please tell me how to set up my new HP Envy Laptop so that will power up when I open the lid? If it helps, the model number is X0S45UAR#ABA.
I've already got it set to shut down when I close the lid, so that's not the problem. It's that every time I open the lid, I have to press the power button. I've had computers you could set up - usually in the bios - so they would start up when you opened the lid. How do I do this on my new computer?
I have to add that I have been on the phone for a full hour waiting to speak with a support supervisor because the customer support rep I was speaking with was trying to tell me I'd have to PAY HP to get an answer to this question. How dumb is that?

I think you want wake up not power up because no way you can power up when just opening the lid. Please try
Regards.

No, I don't want the computer to "sleep" when I close the lid. I literally want it to shut down.
What I want is for it to power up when I open the lid.
Many other computer manufacturers add that feature to their bios. It's just a setting. I was trying to find out whether or not or how HP has implemented this. Waking up from sleep isn't an answer.
If this isn't a feature, what's the best way to let HP know we want this?

Counterintuitively, I got this to work by setting the only choice given - close lid to "do nothing". Now when I open my lid my folio powers on instantly. Not sure what it's doing when closed, but the screen is off, so I'll see how this affects battery life. Regardless it now works the way I want and I'm thinking the battery loss will be an acceptable tradeoff for me...

" because no way you can power up when just opening the lid."
WRONG!!!
My Toshiba Satellite I just come from DID have this option! And I used it exclusively! Lid close was sleep, power button press was hibernate. So if I were going some distance or time between uses I'd press the power button, then close the lid. When setup at the next place I'd open the lid and up come the laptop.
Read sleep = suspend to RAM machine is still running but hibernate = suspend to hard drive meaning the machine is NOT powered up and thus opening the lid IS "powering up" which you just claimed impossible!
