This laptop started with a black screen displaying the message that "There is no recovery binary in the system…create and plug in a recovery dongle and restart the computer" Attempted several options including hard reset, BIOS reset using windows key + V key. Bios reset holding down power button for 25 seconds, creating a BIOS Update rescue disk, starting to a menu using the escape key, starting with a USB rescue disk, a USB CD startup disk etc. Every attempt was meet with first a BIOS Update Error 502 screen, the a BIOS Files were corrupted or cannot be found screen after restart. I am wondering if there is a hardware problem on this board? Do I have the wrong BIOS Files as I only have 2 choices on the download page? I have removed the battery and allowed the notebook to sit for several hours with no power and then tried another hard reset with no effect. Anyone that has any other ideas or can help me confirm my suspicions of a motherboard hardware problem would be appreciated. Thank You in advance for any help you can offer.

Thank you for your reply. I have tried all the solutions in this document and much more. The laptop will not respond to any escape or F key commands, will not start up or accept any of the Bios update USB drives I have created from HP.com. Does nothing when doing a hard reset or resetting the BIOS using the power button method or keyboard commands. I have never seen a board do this. I am out of ideas.
