Dear Community,

i have a strange issue:

My HP Envy X360 14-fa0255ng suddenly won't turn on.

The orange LED on the USB-C port lights up when I plug in the power adapter.

The white LED on the power button flashes when I try to turn it on and hold down the power button. About once a second. There’s also a soft “click” sound.

When I hold down Win+B and the power button, the LED flashes/clicks twice as fast.

Holding down the power button for a long time doesn’t help either.

Thank you for your support!

Hi @meisterklasse,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

According to your description, it seems that your PC is not completing the Power On Self-Test (POST). This issue typically arises from a problem with one of the three main components: the processor, RAM modules, or motherboard.

The easiest and most effective solution is performing a hard reset. Turn off your HP laptop completely, disconnect the AC adapter, and remove the battery if possible. Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds to discharge any residual electrical charge. This clears temporary configurations that may prevent your laptop from starting. Reconnect the power adapter (and battery if you removed it) and try turning on your laptop.

HP laptops use LED lights to communicate power status. When connected to AC power, the LED near your power port typically shows:

White or green: Battery is charged or charging normally

Amber or orange: Battery is charging but low

Blinking: Potential battery or power adapter issue

No light: No power detected from adapter

The AC adapter brick also has an LED that should remain solid when plugged into a working outlet. If this LED is off, the adapter isn’t receiving power or has failed.

Attempt BIOS Recovery

Touch + Sight: Press the Windows + B keys together while holding the power button for about 2-3 seconds, then release the power button but keep holding the keys.

If successful, the laptop may beep, and you will see a BIOS recovery screen.

Follow the prompts to recover or reset the BIOS.

Let me know how this goes.

Take care and have an amazing day ahead! 🚀

Hey @Kuroi_Kenshi!

Thank you so much for your time.

Unfortunately, this procedure doesn't help.

No Matter, how long and in which combination I'm pressing/holding WIN+B and the Power Button - just the Power Button blinks (every second when pressing).

When Holding Win+V the light on the Power Button blinks faster (approx 2x/sec).

Connecting the Power: the LED next to the port gets white. When I press the Power Button, the LED next to the ports turns off (and then on again, when i stop pressing the Power Button). No other lights (CAPS) are on.

Thank you! MKL
