Hi All
When i try to shutdown my HP Envy x360 it keeps restarting, i have switched off the auto restart in Advance. I ran a health check on my laptop drivers, bios all up to date. Can anyone confirm if this is a common issue with HP or is there anything else i can try ?
Thanks Soz747

Hi @Soz747,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the laptop which is not shutting down properly!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
The issue where your HP ENVY x360 - 15-ds0502sa restarts instead of shutting down is often caused by Fast Startup, BIOS settings, or power management issues. Here’s what you can try to fix it:
Disable Fast Startup
Fast Startup can sometimes cause restart issues instead of a full shutdown.
- Press Win + R, type powercfg.cpl, and hit Enter.
- Click Choose what the power buttons do (left panel).
- Click Change settings that are currently unavailable.
- Scroll down and uncheck Turn on fast startup (recommended).
- Click Save changes and restart.
Change Power Settings
Sometimes, the system misinterprets the shutdown as a restart due to ACPI power settings.
- Press Win + X → Device Manager.
- Expand System Devices → Right-click ACPI Fixed Feature Button.
- Select Disable device.
- Restart your laptop and test shutting it down again.

Modify BIOS Settings
Some HP laptops have BIOS settings that cause restart issues.
- Turn off your laptop.
- Press Esc repeatedly while turning it on, then press F10 to enter BIOS.
- Look for Power Management settings.
- Disable Wake on LAN or any Wake Timers.
- Save and Exit.
Perform a Full Shutdown

- Press Win + X, select Terminal (Admin) or Command Prompt (Admin).
- Type:
- Press Enter.
