Operating System: Microsoft Windows 11

While viewing a hospital webpage, my 3 year old laptop briefly went to green screen then HP BIOS update screen. Said system bios is being recovered and Recovery started but got stuck at 67%. Over an hour now. Can't turn off holding down power button or any of the other options. Not sure what to do. Fan is running strong even when lappie is closed. When open, it goes straight to the HP BIOS update screen and 67%. Any help is appreciated greatly.

Update: After many hours battery ran out and unit closed down. Plugged back in overnight and this morning got back on update BIOS screen but this time hung up at 7%. Been 3 hours at 7. Hoping for guidance from knowledgeable posters here.
