Hello,

My HP Envy laptop was unused for 5 days. When I first tried to charge it via USB-C, no LED turned on. After switching to the standard HP charger, the orange charging LED lit up.

Pressing the power button does nothing at first. When I close and reopen the lid, the power LED turns white, but the screen remains black, the fan doesn’t spin up, and there are no sounds. Holding the power button for several seconds causes the power LED and charging LED to turn off briefly, after which the charging LED comes back on.

I have already attempted a hard reset by holding the power button for over 30 seconds, without success.

Os is windows 11

Hi @FlorianEnvy,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thank you for reaching out. Based on your description, you're experiencing a no-boot issue on your HP Envy laptop, where the power LED lights up but the system does not POST or display anything, even after a hard reset. Sorry to hear about the issue.

Please try the following steps in the exact order:
Step 1: Perform a CMOS Battery Reset (BIOS Reset)

  1. Unplug the charger.
  2. Press and hold the power button for 60 seconds.
  3. Plug the AC charger back in (not USB-C).
  4. Try to power on the device with the charger connected.

Some HP Envy models store CMOS power even when fully shut down — this resets any corrupted BIOS settings.

Step 2: External Display Test

(Only if there's no display but the power LED turns white)

  1. Connect the laptop to an external monitor or TV via HDMI.
  2. Open the lid and press Windows + P, then press the down arrow, then Enter to toggle between display modes.
  3. See if the external screen shows any output.

Step 3: BIOS Recovery Mode (Key Combo)

Try BIOS recovery using this HP key combo:

  1. Turn the laptop off completely (long-press the power button until all LEDs turn off).
  2. Press and hold Windows + B (or Windows + V on some models).
  3. While holding the keys, press and hold the power button for 2-3 seconds, then release the power button but keep holding the keys for ~10 seconds.
  4. If successful, the laptop should boot into BIOS Recovery Mode.

If it works, you may hear beeping and see the BIOS screen or firmware update process.

I hope this helps.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
