Hi,
I went to boot up my HP Envy x360 Convertible this morning, but the screen is stuck 90 degrees clockwise rotates (i.e. in portrait mode), and I can’t log in to the PC at all because the keyboard and trackpad don’t work, and I can’t even use touch screen to do it either because it’s not doing anything when I touch the screen.
Weirdly though, the mouse and keyboard DO work if I run BIOS at start up, but when I get to factory reset, the keyboard and mouse revert to not working again.
I have tried the following:
- CTRL + Alt + Up: Doesn’t work because the keyboard isn’t working
- Plug in a mouse and keyboard and try: Again there is no mouse pointer, and typing does nothing
- Run System Diagnostics in F2: It says everything is fine
- Tilt/gold the screen and try to kick it out of portrait mode: Nothing happens
- Factory Reset: I cant navigate to any options in the menu because the keyboard, trackpad and touchscreen don’t work.
Ive had no end of issues with this laptop. It’s only just over a year old, and I’ve already had trackpad issues where it was rattling. These laptops should be better for the price!!

@LaithanMT Welcome to HP Community!
I understand that the screen is stuck 90 degrees clockwise rotates.
Please follow the below steps with the external keyboard and check.
The first thing I would try is holding down your ctrl and alt and hitting the up arrow key.
This should rotate the screen go back to normal.
If it doesnt, click on your start button and in the search bar type in 'intel'.
you may or may not see 'intel control center' come up. If you do, click on it.
When it comes up click on 'intel hd graphics' on the right. This will open another window.
Then on the right you should see the 'rotation' option. click the drop down menu and choose 'rotate to normal'.
This should fix the screen. then click 'apply' and 'ok'.
Then restart the notebook to make sure the settings were saved.
