Hi @emceeone2001,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your laptop!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Remove CMOS Battery: On some older models, removing the CMOS battery might reset the BIOS settings, including the password. However, this option typically requires disassembly of the laptop and is recommended only for professionals.
Reset Windows Password: If it's a Windows password you're referring to, you can reset it through your Microsoft account recovery. Visit the Microsoft account recovery page and follow the instructions.
BIOS Password Reset Through a Service Center: Consider taking your laptop to an authorized HP service center. They can help you reset the password.
Note: Attempting to bypass or reset the BIOS password without authorization could void your warranty or cause damage
I hope this helps.
I'm glad I could help! 😊 If this resolved your issue, please mark it as "Accepted Solution" and click "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?" Your feedback not only keeps us going but also helps others find the solution faster! 👍✨

Greetings,
Thank you for your reply.
This laptop is basically new, and It is registered.
It is a few years old but has barely been used (less than 50 hrs.) It is out of warranty.
I think I did this to myself as when I was attempting to change users to my wife I did something and is got locked.
I was hoping to find a password or some other way to unlock this laptop as it is not cheap to replace.
I have tried looking on HP website for a solution but was unable to even find a link to any information that would help. Couldn't find a link where I could even pay for information if possible.
I took this laptop to an authorized service center inside Best Buy on West loop 410 in San Antonio, tx. and after about 15 minutes they told me it was BIOS locked and I would need a new motherboard.
I then took it to a reputable computer service store. They tried the CMOS battery, didnt work. Then they were going to try replacing the bios chip but couldn't find a trustworthy dealer.
I am hoping that this cjipset has a master admin password that I could obtain.
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
emceeone2001
