My Envy x360 does not boot up.
When I press the power button, it lights up but the machine does not boot.
When I click ESC - I see message on bottom left corner "ESC...Pause Startup"
When I click F1 - I see "F1...System Information"
Similar message with F2
Now what is going wrong? Is there a way to recover from this?
Thanks.

Hi @mbhawmik,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Envy x360 laptop is not booting up, it can be caused by a variety of issues, ranging from hardware problems to software issues. Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:
Check the Power Source:
- Ensure that the laptop is properly connected to a power source and that the charger is functioning correctly. Try a different power outlet and charger if possible.
Check for External Devices:
- Disconnect all external devices (e.g., USB drives, external hard drives, printers, etc.) from the laptop and see if it boots up. Sometimes, a malfunctioning external device can cause booting issues.
Perform a Hard Reset:
- Disconnect the laptop from the power source.
- Remove the laptop's battery if possible.
- Hold down the power button for 15-20 seconds.
- Reconnect the battery (if removed) and power source.
- Attempt to turn on the laptop.
Check the Display:
- Sometimes, the laptop might be booting up, but the screen isn't displaying anything. Connect the laptop to an external monitor to see if it's actually booting up. If it displays on the external monitor, it could indicate a problem with the laptop's built-in display.
Listen for Beep Codes or LED Indicators:
- Some laptops provide audible beep codes or LED indicators that can help diagnose hardware issues. Check the laptop's manual or HP's support documentation to interpret these codes.
Boot into Safe Mode:
- If you suspect a software issue is preventing the laptop from booting, try booting into Safe Mode. To do this, repeatedly press the F8 or F10 key (or another key depending on your laptop model) immediately after turning on the laptop. From Safe Mode, you can troubleshoot and potentially fix software-related issues.
Perform a System Restore:
- If your laptop was working fine recently and suddenly stopped booting, you can try performing a system restore to revert your computer to a previous state when it was working. This can help if a recent software update or installation caused the issue.
Boot from a Recovery USB/DVD:
- If you have a bootable USB drive or DVD with a Windows installation or recovery image, you can try booting from it and using repair options to fix startup issues.
Hardware Diagnostics:
- Many HP laptops have built-in hardware diagnostic tools that can help identify hardware issues. You can usually access these tools by pressing a specific key (like F2 or F12) during startup. Refer to your laptop's manual or HP's website for instructions.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
