G4-1125dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello there. I have a HP Laptop, G4-1125dx, it will not boot but the fan runs and lights are blinking. The Caps Lock light blinks 2 times in a row every few seconds and then nothing happens. I read about how hold the Windows Key + the B key to try a boot recovery since that seems to be the problem. I have tried that several times with no luck at all.

I have also downloaded the latest BIOS available for it at https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-pavilion-g4-1100-notebook-pc-series/5082220/mode...

I formatted a USB stick to FAT32. I tried to use the HP tool to make the USB with the BIOS files on it, but it only wants to update the BIOS, no options to create a USB BIOS. So, I went to the folder the install created, and pulled all of the BIN files off of it to the USB stick. I put the USB stick into one of the USB ports on the left of the laptop, tried the Windows + B key again, still no luck. I'm not really sure what else to do.

The battery is not in the laptop, only using the AC Adapter. I've tried the Windows + B key about 8 times in a row after pulling the AC power, holding the Windows Key + B, insearting the AC, pressing power, letting go of power, continuing holding the Windows Key + B for about 15 seconds. Nothing happens each time. Any suggestions?

Files on the USB Stick:
0165CF6A.bin

0165EF6A.bin

03564F6A.bin

Ok, figured out my problem. HP says SOME Laptops use Windows Key + V. This laptop does. The B doesn't do it. It's the V key! Grrr. 🙂

Get the BIOS on the USB drive, Windows Key + V, it will beep several times, then do the BIOS recovery.

Ok, as an update. I read how to check for some numbers on the laptop. I did find 165C-110 under the battery, so I kept only the .BIN file with 165C. I also created a copy of the file with .SIG. So now there are 2 files, the 0165CF6A.bin and 0165CF6A.sig files. I still tried the Windows Key + B. Tried it 3 times in a row, no luck again.

Download  Hardware Diagnostics 4 in 1 USB Key and create the flash drive. Be sure to read the Guide that is included on the flash drive after it is created.
