Hello

My laptop is constantly freezing and restarting.

Sometimes I am able to log on and open a program then it crashes, other times I log on and it crashes without loading anything and sometimes I turn the computer on and it loads a black screen telling me to install a hard drive.

The crashing has got worse in the last couple of days.

To begin with i was able to open some programs (at first it would never let me open Google chrome without crashing) so i ran Avast! Virus scan which came back clear. I also then installed bitdefender which also came back clear of any viruses etc.

I tried to install windows updates and resetting my computer but still the problem continued.

I need the laptop to work as I am a teacher and need to teach online. Any help would be appreciated but at the moment my laptop is crashing as soon as I have logged and got to my home screen. It is so frustrating!

Hi:

The Short DST failure report on your screenshot indicates the hard drive needs to be replaced and the operating system reinstalled.

Below is the link to the service manual, where you can find the hard drive removal and replacement procedure.

Using another Windows PC, you can make a bootable recovery USB drive using the HP cloud recovery tool that will reinstall W10, the drivers and the software that originally came with your notebook.

Here is an info link for how to use that utility...
