Hello, today my computer froze while playing a game. Sometimes it would freeze; we would turn it off and on using the power button. This time I turned it off, but when I turned it on the HP logo appears and it freezes again. It freezes right when it starts up. I ran HP's tests using the F2 key. When it comes to RAM scanning, it freezes at 7 percent. All other tests say "passed", but when it comes to memory scanning, it freezes. I wrote to HP support, but they never got back to me. They left it at a time when I needed it the most. I will leave sample photos. Thank you in advance

Hi @Eness__,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP laptop freezes during startup and the RAM scanning process in the built-in HP diagnostics freezes at 7 percent, it indicates a potential issue with your laptop's memory or other hardware components. Here's a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
**1. Perform a Hard Reset
Power Off Laptop:
- Shut down your laptop completely.
Disconnect Power and Remove Battery:
- Unplug the power adapter and remove the battery (if removable).
Discharge Residual Power:
- Press and hold the power button for 15-30 seconds to discharge any residual power.
Reinsert Battery and Power Adapter:
- Reinsert the battery (if applicable) and reconnect the power adapter.
Power On Laptop:
- Try turning on your laptop and check if the issue persists.
**2. Test RAM Modules
Power Off and Open Laptop:
- Power off the laptop and remove the battery (if removable). Disconnect the power adapter.
Access RAM Modules:
- Open the RAM compartment on the back or underside of the laptop (refer to your laptop's manual for instructions).
Reseat RAM Modules:
- Gently remove the RAM modules and then reseat them in their slots. Ensure they are securely connected.
Test RAM Modules Individually:
- If your laptop has more than one RAM module, try booting with each module individually to see if the issue persists. This helps identify if a specific module is faulty.
**3. Check for Hardware Issues
Inspect for Loose Connections:
- Check all internal connections and components to ensure they are securely connected.
Examine for Physical Damage:
- Look for any signs of physical damage to the RAM, motherboard, or other components.
**4. Run Diagnostics in Safe Mode
Boot into Safe Mode:
- Restart your laptop and repeatedly press F8 or Shift + F8 during startup to enter Safe Mode.
Run Diagnostics:
- Once in Safe Mode, try running the HP diagnostics again to see if it still freezes.
**5. Update BIOS and Drivers
Download BIOS Update:
- Visit the HP Support website and search for your laptop model. Download and install the latest BIOS update available.
Update Drivers:
- Update your laptop’s drivers, especially those related to chipset and memory. You can find updates on the HP Support website or through Windows Update.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
