Hi all.
I own an Envy x360 m convertible. I flashed it with Fedora Linux and encountered no problems for several months. I usually charge it overnight, but I left it unplugged for one night. Now, it won’t turn on all.
When I plug it in to a power supply, the charging indicator is solid white. When I hold the power button down for 15 seconds, the led goes dark, but turns back on when I let go of the button. I’ve checked my outlet and my cable, and there’s definitely no issues with those.
I’ve tried removing the battery, holding the power button, reinserting the battery, and powering on. This does not work. I’ve also checked with a multimeter, and the battery is definetly delivering the proper voltage. It doesn’t boot with only the power supply and no battery either.
The battery is kind of old, but since it doesn’t boot when only the power supply is connected, I don’t think it’s a battery issue.
I haven’t modified the hardware at all.
I don’t think I have warranty, and I’m sure I’ve voided it if I did, so any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

Hi @moneybags42 ,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It seems like you've tried several troubleshooting steps, and it's unfortunate that the issue persists. Here are a few additional suggestions you can try:
Hard Reset:
- Disconnect the laptop from the power source.
- Remove the battery if possible.
- Hold down the power button for about 15-20 seconds.
- Reconnect the battery and plug the laptop back into the power source.
- Try turning it on again.
BIOS/UEFI Reset:
- Access the laptop's BIOS or UEFI settings. The method varies among manufacturers, so check your laptop's manual.
- Look for an option to reset to default or load-optimized settings.
- Save changes and exit.
- Try turning on the laptop again.
Check RAM and Storage:
- Reseat the RAM modules. If you have multiple modules, try using one at a time.
- If you have an extra RAM module, try replacing the existing one.
- Check if the storage drive is properly connected. Reseat or replace if necessary.
External Display:
- Connect your laptop to an external monitor or TV using the appropriate cable.
- Power on the laptop and check if there's any display on the external screen. This can help determine if the issue is related to the laptop's display.
System Diagnostics:
- Some laptops have built-in diagnostics tools that can be accessed during boot (usually by pressing a specific key). Check your laptop's manual for instructions on how to run diagnostics.
Update or Rollback Graphics Drivers:
- If the laptop has a dedicated graphics card, update or roll back the graphics drivers to see if it resolves the issue.
Remove Additional Hardware:
- Disconnect all external devices (USB drives, printers, etc.) and try turning on the laptop with only essential components connected.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
