I had attempted to calibrate my battery on my laptop. When I boot the laptop I pressed thr "esc" key and this succesfully brings me into the BIOS menu. I then press "F2" to get into the system diagnostics, and the menu never comes up and it hangs at 43%. Help?

Hi @MikeSUR,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're encountering an issue with your HP laptop when trying to access the system diagnostics (UEFI) via the F2 key. Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:
Power Cycle the Laptop:
- Turn off your laptop completely.
- Disconnect any peripherals (like external drives, printers, etc.) and remove any discs from the optical drive.
- Disconnect the AC adapter and remove the battery (if removable).
- Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds to discharge any residual power.
- Reinsert the battery (if removable) and reconnect the AC adapter.
- Turn on your laptop and try accessing the system diagnostics (F2 key) again.
Check BIOS/UEFI Settings:
- If you can access the BIOS setup (by pressing Esc), check if there are any settings related to diagnostics or system tests. Ensure that they are enabled.
Update BIOS/UEFI Firmware:
- Sometimes, updating the BIOS/UEFI firmware can resolve issues with system diagnostics. Visit HP's official support website, enter your laptop model, and download the latest BIOS/UEFI update. Follow the instructions carefully to update your BIOS/UEFI.
Run Hardware Diagnostics from Another Source:
- If you still can't access the built-in diagnostics, consider using other diagnostic tools. HP often provides downloadable diagnostic tools that you can run from a USB drive or directly from Windows. These tools can help diagnose hardware issues even if the built-in diagnostics are inaccessible.
