Hi,

I have a laptop that doesn't show any sign of life. No fans spinning, no display, no beeps, no nothing.

I've tried unplugging and holding the power button for 15 seconds, and even for a whole minute, but that didn't solve the problem.

What else can I do?

Hi @AppelPerzik

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I understand that the laptop is completely unresponsive and is not showing any signs of power, even after performing a power reset by holding the power button for 15 seconds and up to a minute. Thank you for confirming the troubleshooting steps you have already completed.

As the unit is showing no signs of life at all (no LEDs, fan activity, display, or beep codes), I would request you to perform the following checks:

  • Disconnect all external devices, including USB devices, docking stations, monitors, and memory cards.
  • Verify that the AC adapter is working:
  • Ensure the charging LED turns on when the adapter is connected.
  • If available, test with another compatible HP adapter.
  • If the battery is removable, disconnect it and try powering on using only the AC adapter.
  • Press and hold Windows + B and then press the Power button for 2-3 seconds to check whether the system attempts a BIOS recovery.
  • Observe carefully for any charging LED activity, Caps Lock/Num Lock blinking patterns, fan movement, or warmth around the charging port.

If the system still remains completely dead with no LED indications or response from the charging port, this may indicate a hardware-related issue involving the power delivery circuitry, motherboard, DC-in jack, or battery.

Hope this helps, Please revert if the issue persists.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.

Thank you for your answer.

Unfortunately, nothing seems to help this laptop.

No devices are connected to the laptop. The AC adapter works with another laptop (same model) but nothing happens on this one. The charging LED does not turn on, even after letting it plugged in for an hour. The battery isn't removable.

I've tried holding Windows + B and the power button as you said, but the result was the same. No LED activity, not even caps lock or num lock.

Thank you for your help.
