Hi
This starting to happen very recent.
I was playing a game on my computer. It was on external power and I had an external monitor connected.
Suddenly the laptop itself went completely black and looked like it had turned completely off. Display was off, and the keyboard was completely inactive.
But the computer was still running fine on the external monitor. The Wireless mouse was working fine and I could still play, although not very efficient without the keybard as I needed to use that as well.
At the moment I could not do anything so i disconnected the external power and was just waiting for it to run out of battery. After like 10-20 minutes it just went back to normal like nothing had happened. the screen on the laptop turned on and the keyboard was working again. I could just continue to play if I wanted.
I was hoping that this was a onetime event but that is not the case it is not. It happens more and more frequent.
One time it also happened when I was in windows and I could again use the mouse as normal so I restarted the machine but when it booted up I could not log in as the keyboard was not working. Whatever is causing this makes the keyboard inactive for some time which I find is very strange.
It also happens when I do not use my external screen, and then everything just goes black. I would not know that it was still running if I did not have an external screen.
So far I have run every hardware diagnostic check I could find on HP.com support. Everything comes up fine. I have updated all the drivers and updated the BIOS.
I have tried to completely reinstall WIn11 but no effect. Actually, it happened just after the reinstall was complete while being in windows.
This seems for me to be some kind of hardware problem since a complete reinstall did not sort it out.
I also checked the temperature while gaming to see if that could have been an issue, but it was not very high and also it happens when I am only in windows so I do not expect it to be an issue.
The laptop is only a year old, and just outside the HP warranty.
I can also say that for some time the screen has been flickering a bit while on battery. This has also become worse for the last months.
So anyone have an idea of what could cause this?

I found the solution.
It was all caused by a design error from HP!
The reason for the issue is that the sensor for the closing of the lid and making the laptop go into sleep mode is to close to the heat sink. This causes the sensor to mailfunction over time and after a certain time you will experience this issue.
